What is Return and Report.org?
Return and Report.org is a tool that assists Relief Society, Elders Quorum and High Priest Group Leaders with their Home or Visiting teaching responsibilities. The tool has two tiers.
The first tier provides a scheduled email reminder to each individual teacher with a personalized message from their leaders.
The second tier adds the ability for the teachers to click on a link and report on their efforts. Additionally, the second tier allows teachers to send comments to their leaders or companions or even request an interview with their leaders. This gives the leaders key visibility regarding who has been visited and when.
This tool frees up leaders and gives them the necessary information to focus on the needs of the individuals they are responsible for.

History of This Site
The Church has limited resources to develop these kinds of tools and works on projects in a cyclical manner. Currently, there is the big push on FamilySearch and to put TempleReady on the web.
This site is a product of like minded Priesthood holders across many Stakes that saw the need and potential for this tool. The objectives were to create a site that increased the number of families who were being visited, increased visibility of the families, improved the information about the less active families, and enabled more productive visits by ward leaders to these households. The site was later improved to support Visiting Teaching as well.
MLS
This is the tool stake and ward clerks use around the world. Its predecessor, MIS, was originally written by a Brother in Arizona. In fact, one of the key contributors to this site wrote a very popular reporting add-on for MIS back in 1993 which was eventually incorporated into MLS 11 years later (in 2004.)
PAF
The genealogy software the Church gives away, was co-authored by a Brother in San Clemente, California long ago.
Infobases
A very popular compact disc based Church library tool in the late eighties and through the nineties was absorbed by the Church and became the predecessor to having all of this content on lds.org
The Gift of Family History (GOFH)
A family history program used for missionary efforts and member reactivation, is a very successful tool that originated in a Sacramento, California stake.
Playing by the rules
The site has been designed to comply with laws limiting displayable information to public record information. This site also complies with all Church policies relating to non-content, meaning non-copyrighted materials sites, for use by Church members.
This site utilizes multiple levels of encryption (including SSL encryption), automatically expiring reporting links, and a simple, yet powerful security methodology to protect itself and its users.
Approvals
Many ask whether this site is approved by the Church. The Church does not approve or endorse sites outside of the Church. As mentioned in the playing by the rules section, this site complies with all known legal and Church requirements. High Priest Group Leaders, Relief Society and Elder Quorum Presidents who have additional concerns should seek whatever approvals they feel are necessary at the ward level.
